Program Educational Objectives
Graduates of the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) Juris Doctor Program are expected to have attained the following within 2 years after graduation:
- Exhibit professional competence and ethical practice that demonstrates a high level of competence in the practice of law, guided by ethical principles, professional responsibility, and a commitment to justice and the rule of law.
- Engage in lifelong learning and legal scholarship by pursuing continuous professional development and advanced legal education, contributing to the development of legal knowledge through research, writing, or teaching.
- Actively participate in public service, legal aid, advocacy, or policy work that promotes social justice, legal empowerment, and equitable access to the legal system; advocate for fairness, social justice, and the primacy of the rule of law in both public and private sectors, contributing to legal reform, public interest advocacy, or community-based initiatives.
- Demonstrate legal mastery and analytical skill through applying comprehensive knowledge of law and legal principles with critical thinking, sound judgment, and analytical skills in diverse areas of legal practice, policymaking, or academia.
- Establish collaborative behavior and inclusivity across diverse legal settings by engaging effectively with legal teams, clients, institutions, and communities, while demonstrating cultural sensitivity, respect for diversity, and adaptability to dynamic legal and societal contexts.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) – Juris Doctor Program are expected to have attained the following within 2 years after graduation:
- Demonstrate a strong foundational understanding of legal concepts, principles, and regulatory frameworks relevant to governance, business, and public institutions.
- Critically evaluate statutes, jurisprudence, regulations, and empirical data to produce research outputs that inform policy, governance reforms, and institutional practices. MLS graduates demonstrate analytical depth, methodological soundness, and the ability to translate research findings into practical recommendations.
- demonstrate respect for human rights, cultural diversity, and the rule of law, applying ethical
- principles in the conduct of research and in their roles within government, corporate, and civil society institutions.
- effectively communicate legal ideas, research findings, and policy recommendations to both specialized and non-specialized audiences (capable of drafting policy papers, legal memoranda, and analytical reports, and engaging stakeholders in dialogues that support evidence-based governance and institutional development).
- expected to assume leadership roles in legal research, policy development, and administrative practice
