New Degree Program Offering: Master of Legal Studies

The University of Baguio School of Law (SL) is now offering the Master of Legal Studies for A.Y. 2024-2025.

The course is open to graduates of any four-year course. The Master of Legal Studies program is a program which can be taken for two (2) years to graduate with a Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree and four (4) years to graduate with an MLS – Juris Doctor degree.

Q. Will there be a thesis?
A. No. Most post-baccalaureate masterals require at least 30 units of academic work and a thesis, whereas to be conferred MLS you will need 50 units of academic work. So in lieu of the thesis, the 20 additional units (hence 50) will be required.

Q. Will there be a separate curriculum?
A. No. You will be in the same class, given the same requirements, and treated as any regular law student.

Q. Can I become a lawyer if I finish the MLS program?
A. No. But you can continue and pursue the JD program for 2 more years and be eligible to take the bar.
